Why isn't autocomplete able to fill in my remembered D2L username and password?

The ability to autocomplete usernames and passwords is turned off by default in D2L . Auto-complete is a great convenience for those of us who typically use our computers at home or carry our laptop with us. However, lots of folks (students and instructors) access their accounts on a public computer (in a lab for example). Most people know enough to choose to not save passwords on a public computer. The problem is that some do not realize this and even those of us who do, sometimes just get in a hurry and click through.
